Today Electronic Arts and DICE hosted the first reveal of the upcoming new season for Battlefierld 2042. It'll be the 6th and it'll be titled "Dark Creations."
At the moment, information about the season is thin, but we know that it'll include a new map "set in claustrophobic close quarters," new weapons and gadgets, and new Battle Pass items (duh).
According to the brief description provided, it'll be "Battlefield 2042’s darkest and most nerve-racking season yet." It'll start on October 10.
The story appears to be about a lab where soldiers have been experimented upon and have been turned into aggressive, zombie-like monsters.
Considering that Halloween is getting close, the theme is pretty fitting with the season.
You can take a look at the trailer below and judge for yourself. We do know that the gameplay trailer will drop on October 5 and it'll likely be accompanied by much more details about the season's content.
This comes hot on the heels of the news that sees Need for Speed developer Criterion joining the growing number of studios working on the next Battlefield game.
That being said, Criterionn has already helped with developing Battlefield 2042 itself, alongside Battlefield V and even Star Wars: Battlefront II, so the eclectic developer should feel right at home.
Battlefield 2042, which was released in 2021 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4, and Xbox One, received a rather mixed reception at launch (including from our very own Robert N Adams), but Electronic Arts did not give up on it and has continued working on improving it throughout its seasons.
