EA and DICE have revealed the patch notes for the upcoming Battlefield 2042 Update 4.0, which is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. The update is bringing a new Specialist to play as, plus a new map to explore, a new vehicle to help you get around, and plenty more besides.
Last week, EA and DICE announced that Battlefield 2042 Season 4 would arrive on February 28th, and today, we're getting our first look at the extensive patch notes for the new season. As you can imagine, given that this is an entirely new season for the game, the update is pretty big, bringing lots of new things to enjoy.
First up, you're getting a new map in the form of Flashpoint, which takes place on the South African battlefield of The Richtersveld. Points of interest include the Water Treatment area, which is a vehicle-friendly combat zone, as well as the Team Deathmatch-centered Reactor Maintenance zone and the infantry-focused Mineral Extraction area.

Following the revamp to the Specialist system in update 3.2, this new season is also bringing Battlefield 2042's final Specialist, Camila Blasco. She's a sneaky fighter who's capable of placing a dead zone that interferes with enemy spotting technology, and she can also expertly weave her way through Claymore mines, proximity sensors, and other traps. If you like your shooters stealthy, Blasco is your Specialist.
A new vehicle is also trundling onto the battlefield in Battlefield 2042 Season 4. The CAV-Brawler can move through small spaces and protect your squad from danger. What's more, your squad can spawn on the vehicle, allowing you to push forward for objectives without worrying about leaving anyone behind.

Four new weapons have been added to your arsenal in this new season. The AC9 is a lightweight SMG that's perfect for hip-firing, while the RM68 assault rifle is built for close-quarter fights on Flashpoint. The RPT-31 is an LMG with a low rate of fire but seriously hard-hitting bullets, and the Super 500 shotgun should give you the last word in short-range battles.
Of course, this being a new Battlefield 2042 season, there's also a new battle pass to look forward to, with 100 tiers of rewards to unlock. You'll also find new vault weapons, a new gadget, and a whole lot of gameplay tweaks and changes. You can read the full Battlefield 2042 patch notes right here.
Battlefield 2042 is currently available to buy on PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox platforms. Update 4.0 is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, February 28th at 4am Eastern (that's around 1am Pacific), and battle pass progression begins at 7am Eastern/4am Pacific.
