A new Atlas Fallen gameplay overview trailer has been released, showcasing some in-depth gameplay and detailing what you can expect from Deck13 and Focus Entertainment's upcoming action-RPG. The trailer features a look at the character creation process, as well as more info about combat, upgrades, and more.
While previous Atlas Fallen gameplay trailers have already given us a glimpse of the gameplay, they weren't as in-depth or extensive as Deck13's new deep dive. The trailer opens with a look at how your character fits into proceedings; you are one of the Unnamed citizens of Atlas, stripped of your livelihood by the sun god Thelos and forced to sift through the sands of Atlas for the precious Essence resource.
When your character discovers the Gauntlet, you will gain powers that will help you both in combat and in traversal. These powers will evolve as the game progresses, giving you the ability to glide across the sand dunes with ease, for instance, or fly through the air to reach otherwise impassable areas.
We then get a look at how combat will work in Atlas Fallen. The enemies you fight are called Wraiths, and you'll be able to take down smaller enemies quickly and easily. Legendary creatures, however, will require "all your skill, guile, and unique strategies" to defeat. Joints, limbs, and "other places" can be weak points on enemies, and targeting them at the right moments will help you weaken your enemies and achieve victory.
You'll be able to mix and match the three core weapons at your disposal - the Dunecleaver, Sandwhip, and Knuckledust - using a wide variety of Essence Stones to passively and actively augment and combine your attacks. You can spec for aerial combos, for instance, or build yourself into more of a resilient tank able to withstand any attack. You can find Essence Stones throughout the world, and you can also craft specific ones yourself to create a build that works for you.
Atlas Fallen is set to arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on August 10th.
