Our Wizard with a Gun Map and Locations Guide will explain how the Map works and list the important locations and NPCs you'll find on it.

Every expedition in Wizard with a Gun is unique -- and this includes the Map. As you hunt for Resources to make Potions and new Bullets, you'll notice that the world isn't exactly the same as the last time you visited. That said, the Map will follow the same general rules -- read on to learn more about the Wizard with a Gun Map!

Wizard with a Gun Map

Wizard with a Gun Map and Locations Guide - Full Map of a Generated World After Endgame
This randomly-generated Map gives you a good idea of what the world looks like once you've unlocked all of the Gears for The Wheel.

This Wizard with a Gun Map gives you an idea of what you'll see once you've found all of the Gears for The Wheel, the massive magical clock that rolls back time and allows you to explore the world once more. The Barren Sea is always to the south, The Fell is always to the east, and The Frozen Wastes are always to the north. Furthermore, you'll be able to consistently find most NPCs within these biomes after you've unlocked them.

How to Expand the Wizard with a Gun Map

You can expand the Wizard with a Gun Map by defeating Minibosses and Riders to unlock new Gears. Each Gear is a step toward opening up a new portion of the world for you to explore.

Unlocking new biomes, however, explicitly requires you to defeat the Riders that serve as the boss of each biome. Once you do, you'll have a brand-new area to explore with new Resources -- and challenging new enemies to fight.

Some locations and NPCs -- such as Grandma Bogfen's House in The Fell -- will always be visible on the Map once you've unlocked that part of the world, but others will only be revealed when you get near them.

Wizard with a Gun Locations

These Biomes are the most important Locations you'll explore in Wizard with a Gun.

The Imperium

The Imperium is the starting area in Wizard with a Gun. It will always be in the center of the Map. You'll find Hilda and Young Joshua here, along with a wide selection of basic Resources.

The Fell

The Fell is the second Biome in Wizard with a Gun. The water is terribly poisonous, so it's a good idea to buff your Poison resistance and bring plenty of healing Potions with you. This is the home of Grandma Bogfen, the NPC who first teaches you how to make Potions.

The Frozen Wastes

The entirety of The Frozen Wastes Biome is hazardous -- spend too long there and you'll gradually slow down due to the chilly mountain air. You'll need to bring special Potions with you to be able to move around freely in the third Biome.

The Barren Sea

The fourth and final Biome of Wizard with a Gun is The Barren Sea, a desert environment that is plagued by oppressive heat. As with The Frozen Wastes, you'll need special Potions to survive the environmental hazards here.

Wizard with a Gun Points of Interest

Here are the various Points of Interest that you can find on the Wizard with a Gun Map.

Map Altar / Reveal Map

Map Altars (which are labeled as "Reveal Map" when you walk up to them) will lead you to another Point of Interest on the Map; they will always highlight a Miniboss or Boss that is holding one of the Gears for The Wheel.

Doorway

The Doorway is the only way to return back to the Tower without dying. Each Doorway corresponds to a mate in the Tower. Doorways must be charged up with Arcana to activate them for the first time.

It is very important to go through a new Doorway in the world when you discover it. This will lead to a new area in the Tower, granting you access to some new Decorations, a bit of Lore, and possibly some useful Crafting machines, too. Entering the alternate Doorways in the Tower will take you to its corresponding mate in the world, saving you travel time if you wish to go to a specific Biome.

Ambush Rift

Ambush Rifts are portals of Chaos energy that will appear as you're exploring the world. Destroy them quickly -- ideally by using Order Bullets -- or they'll spawn enemies to attack you. Destroying the Ambush Rift (or defeating the enemy spawned from the Ambush Rift) will give you a small amount of Arcana and a pickup that will add a small amount of time to the clock.

Chaos Spawn

A Chaos Spawn looks much like a Dormant Rift, with one exception -- it has a pink blob in the center of the circle rather than a portal. Stepping inside of the circle will spawn a high-level Chaos creature such as a Chaos Devourer. Defeat it and you'll get some Arcana and add several minutes to the clock.

Dormant Rift

A Dormant Rift is a portal that will only open once you step inside of the pink circle surrounding it. This will cause several Chaos creatures to spawn. The Dormant Rift will occasionally be protected by a shield. Destroy the Dormant Rift and you'll add several minutes to the clock.

Miniboss

A Miniboss is a creature that's stronger than the usual enemies in a Biome. Minibosses protect Gears for The Wheel and a loot chest. Once you've collected all of the Gears in an area, you will still be able to fight it for loot.

Boss / Rider Portal

Rider Portals (or Boss Portals) will take you to an arena where you will confront the ultimate Boss of that Biome. These Portals can only be opened after you defeat one or two nearby Minibosses and get their keys. You will not be able to go back into the world once you go through these Portals; you will either defeat the Boss and return to the Tower or you'll die.

Wizard with a Gun Map and Locations Guide - Wizard Talking with Hilda Next to a Loading Bench in The Imperium

Wizard with a Gun NPCs

These are the NPCs you'll find on the Wizard with a Gun Map. Take note that not all NPCs are guaranteed to spawn on a map with the exception of Hilda, Young Joshua,  and Grandma Bogfen.

Cryptomancer

The Cryptomancer is an enigmatic figure who will always appear at the Doorway when you first enter the world. He'll give you tips on what your next goal is.

Hilda

Hilda is the first friendly NPC you'll meet aside from the Cryptomancer; she is always found in The Imperium near the central Doorway. She has a Loading Bench nearby which gives you the opportunity to refill your Bullets when you're out in the world -- provided that you have the necessary Resources. You can always see her icon on the map.

Young Joshua

Young Joshua is a Fell gunsmith who can make every Gun in the game once you've unlocked their Blueprints. He is often found near Hildra in the center of the Imperium. You can always see his icon on the Map.

Grandma Bogfen

Grandma Bogfen is a mysterious being who teaches you the art of making Potions. She is usually found near whichever Doorway you entered in The Fell. You can always see her icon on the Map.

The Last Bard

The Last Bard teaches you a bit about the world.

Darnaby

Darnaby is a Mechana who is trapped on an island in The Imperium. If you free him, you'll unlock access to the Groundlayer which allows you to place and remove floor tiles in the world and in the Tower.

Faunaby

Faunaby is a Mechana who has a penchant for scientific research. He'll task you with finding plants in the world.

Marnaby

Marnaby is a Mechana who loves to cook. Speak with him and he'll give you free food which will heal you like a Potion.

Barnaby

Barnaby is a Mechana who thinks he is a pirate. Complete his quest and he'll grant you a share of his treasure (which is mostly sand, but that's still pretty neat).

Mechana

Mechana are small, adorable robots that can be found throughout The Imperium. Certain Mechana have corrupted personalities which has turned them into named NPCs. They are friendly unless attacked.

Fell

Fell are Lovecraftian, squid-like creatures who inhabit The Fell. They typically guard large farms full of useful Resources and they will not attack you unless you attack them first.

Barbarian

Barbarians are mighty warriors who inhabit The Frozen North. They will not attack you unless you attack them first.
