This guide explains how Wizard with a Gun Bullets work, how Powder works, and tells you the best Bullets, Powders, and Bullet Combos you can get!

As you might expect, a big part of Wizard with a Gun is the various Guns that you can unlock throughout the game. While each new class of Gun can improve your fighting chances, the real magic happens by selecting the correct Bullet and Powder combinations. Read on to learn all about Bullets and Powder!

Unlocking everything in the Research Machina is the first step toward getting access to more Bullets.

How to Unlock Wizard with a Gun Bullets

Here's how to unlock all Wizard with a Gun Bullets:

  1. Unlock the various Research Stations by using the Research Machina.
  2. Place the Research Stations.
  3. Spend Arcana and other Resources to unlock new Bullet types.

Keep in mind that some of the Bullets are gated behind Resources that you can only get from higher-level enemies in later sections of the Map. For example, Charming Bullet IV requires a Chaos Tendril which you can only get by destroying an Emissary of Chaos, and you can't really destroy an Emissary of Chaos unless you have Level 15 Bullets at least.

Additionally, the Destruction Bullets appear to be gated behind unlocking new tiers of Guns or defeating the Riders. There is no way to Research or otherwise unlock the higher tiers of Destruction Bullet as far as I can tell..

How Powder Works in Wizard with a Gun

Powder is an addition to Bullets in Wizard with a Gun that is accessible starting with the "Shabby" tier of Guns that you can unlock in The Imperium. A Gun can have anywhere from 1 to 4 Powder slots available for its Bullets.

Here are some of the effects you can get with Powder:

  • Faster Bullet speed
  • Homing
  • Elemental trails (Fire, Poison, etc.)
  • Higher Critical Chance
  • Increased duration
  • Different/enhanced effects

Much like Bullets, various Powders can be unlocked at the 8 Research Tables. These Powders can be added to Bullets in any combination as long as you have enough of the Arcana Resource to make them.

Wizard with a Gun Bullets Guide - Bullet Combo Oil and Fire

Best Wizard with a Gun Bullet

The best Wizard with a Gun Bullet is the Cold Bullet. While it does a little less damage than the standard Destruction Bullets, the slowdown effect will allow you to more easily kite the enemies you're fighting.

There are two exceptions to this rule. First, Order Bullets are always the best choice for facing the forces of Chaos; while they won't hurt regular enemies, they'll make quick work of any Chaos enemies or Rifts.

Secondly, a solid combination is better than any one standalone Bullet. The right mix of Powders and a good combination of Bullets can outperform any single Bullet. Experiment with the various combos to find something you like!

Best Wizard with a Gun Powder

The best Wizard with a Gun Powder is Homing -- it will automatically lock onto enemies (depending on which Homing Powder you use) and save you the trouble of aiming.

However, Powder is best used in combinations. A good combination of Powders is better than any single Powder. For example, you can enhance the Critical Strike Chance and Critical Strike Damage of a Bullet using a mix of Powders.

Best Wizard with a Gun Bullet Combo

The best WIzard with a Gun Bullet Combo is Poison Bullet + Sepsis Bullet. Poison Bullet will add Poison Stacks to an enemy, and Sepsis Bullet will consume those stacks to deal a burst of damage depending on how many Stacks are consumed. You can further enhance this combination with a good mix of Powders.

As an added benefit, you don't have to worry about collateral damage like you might with fire or lightning (if in water). You can typically use Poison safely and you don't have to worry about it destroying the landscape around you, generally speaking.

There are, of course, several other combinations you can try, such as:

  • Water Bullet + Shocking Bullet
  • Oil Bullet + Burning Bullet
  • Cold Bullet + Freezing Bullet

Consider which combinations would work best with your playstyle and don't be afraid to experiment -- if you don't like what you've created, you can always farm a few more Resources and try out something else!
