In this guide, we'll tell you how to get to Volcalidus in Hydroneer and how the gameplay mechanics are different in this brand-new region of the world.

The new Volcalidus DLC in Hydroneer adds a massive new region for players to explore, and that's not all — you'll also have to track down Dinosaur Bones and build new shops in a budding new town. You won't be able to explore any of this content until you reach this new region, though; read on to learn how to travel there!

How to Get to Volcalidus

You can get to Volcalidus in Hydroneer by traveling to Bridgepour in Bastion, the starter region of the game. You can head to Volcalidus at any time, even at the start of a brand-new game; simply fuel up the Truck next to Ember Cradle, drive over to Bridgepour, get onto the boat, and pull the lever.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to take any of your material wealth with you — Volcalidus is a completely separate region from the main game. Similarly, you can't bring items from Volcalidus back to the Bastion region.

Gameplay requirements aside, there's one more thing you'll need before you can get here — you're going to have to purchase the Journey to Volcalidus DLC before you can reach this new region.

How the Volcalidus Region is Different from the Bastion Region / Default Region

Volcalidus isn't just a different region — there are also some mild gameplay changes and additions that you'll want to be aware of.

Firstly, the core mechanic for getting basic resources is slightly different. For example, you'll have to melt ice with lava to get resources instead of using water, dirt, and brushes. Water-powered Vehicles are also slightly different; you'll fuel them with Lava instead of Water.

Lava replaces Water in other ways, too. Some machines that were powered by Water in the base game are powered by Lava instead. However, some machines (such as Conveyor Belts) are still powered by Water; you'll need to melt Ice with Lava or find a natural pool of Water to power a portion of your machines.
