Looking to spend more time getting to enjoy the presence of other animals in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? Players who pick up a newly-created mod that makes use of a few other mods will be able to pet cats that get added to the game.
Created by a user named Xtudo on Nexus Mods, this mod is a simple mod that does exactly what it says in the description: it lets you pet cats located around Skyrim. However, players may know that, unlike their canine counterparts, cats don't appear in the realm of Skyrim. That's why the mod relies on a trio of other mods to add cats and builds on them to be able to pet them. The first one is the Immersive Interactions mod, created by the same user who made the dog-petting mod for Skyrim, which gives your character a wide variety of context-aware actions that play when your character does things. The other two mods are both made by Xtudo, one of which adds house cats to the game, and another one that adds more colors and another meow sound effect.
Using the aforementioned mods, this mod lets players pet cats by using the petting animation from Immersive Interactions and the cats from Xtudo's cat mods. There are around 30 different types of cats that can be found around Skyrim. In addition, there's one special cat that spawns at the Bard's College in Solitude by the name of Puss in Boots, who wears little boots and has a hat with a feather in it.
You can pick up the Pet the Cats mod here on Nexus Mods. You'll need the "Immersive Interactions - Animated Actions," "House Cats Mihail - Colors and Sounds Patch," and "House Cats- Mihail Monsters and Animals (mihail oldrim mod)" mods to run the cat mod. If you'd rather pet a dog instead, there's also a mod for petting dogs.
