Today Bandai Namco Entertainment released a video showcasing the combat mechanics of the upcoming JRPG Sword Art Online Last Recollection.

The video promises battles that are "speedier and more exhilarating than ever before" with the ability to trigger sword skills by pressing a single button or selecting specific ones to execute depending on preference, with the ability to develop your own combos.

Perfect Counter lets you trigger a specific sword skill with perfect timing while an enemy is attacking, while Perfect Sidestep triggers when you dodge exactly when an attack is incoming, giving you the upper hand.

You can see these concepts in action below.

In case you missed the original announcement made back in November, the game is a retelling of the Sword Art Online Alicization: War of Underworld arc of the anime and is set in the Dark Territory of Underworld. It will also serve as a sequel to Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris.

Sword Art Online Last Recollection is coming for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in 2023. If you want to see more, you can take a look at the story trailer from last month. Fans will also be happy to learn that popular singer ReoNa will return to perform the theme song, titled "Vita." The game will feature over 40 playable characters and promises "MMO-like multiplayer" and "the largest number of unique endings" ever featured in the long-running Sword Art Online series.

At the moment, a specific release date has not been announced, but w already know that the game will be coming to the west.
