The Surge 2 was officially announced in February last year, with a release slated for 2019. Last year at E3 we saw more of the game, which gave the impression of a sequel done right. Our review of The Surge was very positive, we've been waiting for a sequel since then. Now there's a release date available, September 23, leaked on the Microsoft Store along with some information. The game is available for pre-order, which grants the exclusive URBN armor set for players, as well as other weapons and the equipment.
The premise of The Surge 2 is as follows: on the way to Jericho City, your plane is shot down by a mysterious storm and crashes in the outskirts. Soldiers enforce Martial Law, robots are on a rampage, and a dark, expanding nanostorm looms over the city landscape. In a bid to survive, you must explore the sprawling, devastated Jericho City. As you do, you will fight ferocious threats in brutal, unforgiving combat, slashing and tearing the limbs off your opponents to steal valuable equipment that will make you stronger – strong enough to face the most fearsome, imposing foes lurking in the city. With an expanded arsenal of weapons, armors, abilities, implants, and drones to build your character, and a bigger, more varied and more ambitious world, The Surge 2 challenges you to survive and unravel its hidden secrets.
The game will feature the same hardcore, brutal melee combat of the original The Surge, with some improvements. You will face deadly foes and colossal bosses. You can even cut off parts of the enemy you want to loot. The Surge 2 features a rich character progression and customization system. Also listed on the Microsoft Store is a Pre-Order DLC pack called the URBN Gear Pack. Here's what it contains:
- Warren’s most iconic weapon from The Surge: the well-used Cutter
- The full-body URBN armor set
- The URBN Judgement Axe
- The URBN Skimmer Drone
- The Lootscan.exe Radar Module
- A unique online message icon.
