Indie developer Cheesemaster Games and publisher No More Robots announced that the pixel art life sim Spirittea has enjoyed a successful launch.

The game achieved 150,000 players in its first week since the release on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Game Pass on November 13.

It has also become profitable on day one, and with $1,000,000 in sales and growing, it has now made three times its development costs, which is quite flattering.

According to the press release, the game sold strongly on Switch, featuring among the top sellers charts of the Nintendo eShop in nearly every region, while the inclusion in Microsoft's PC Game Pass subscription service provided it with tens of thousands of players.

This comes with the mention that "plans to heavily expand the game in future months and years are secured." The developer promises that Spirittea will go through a period of "constant updates" to fix all the issues found by the community, followed by the release of free content.

The game, defined "Stardew Valley meets Spirited Away,"  features the adventures of a writer who escaped to the countryside to find the inspiration for his next novel. After accidentally drinking from a mystical teapot and gaining the power to see spirits and interact with them, he decides to help them out and restore an ancient bathhouse to help them relax.

On top of that, the player can enjoy plenty of different hobbies which solidify the life simulation concept, while upgrading and managing the bathhouse.
