Players face off against a boss in Remnant: From the Ashes

Soulslike action RPG shooter Remnant: From the Ashes has sold over a million copies. This includes sales across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. To celebrate, developer Gunfire Games has announced some new DLC coming to the game.

First up, Gunfire has added a new Hardcore mode to Remnant: From the Ashes. You'll be able to download and play the new mode as a free content update across all platforms starting today. Hardcore mode challenges you to finish the entire game with just one life. If you die, that's it for your character. Beating bosses in Hardcore mode will net you rings that bind to your account, meaning future characters can use them to level the playing field a little. Hardcore players can only play online with other Hardcore players.

There are also a whole bunch of quality-of-life improvements on their way to Remnant. You'll soon have access to a communication wheel with emotes, as well as environmental pings and markers. Gunfire is adding a helmet toggle so you won't have to look at your ugly hat if you don't want to. Other changes coming include the ability to turn off tutorial prompts and a host of behind-the-scenes balance changes. Gunfire will elaborate on these changes later today, so keep an eye on its official website for more news.

Plenty more DLC is on its way to Remnant: From the Ashes in 2020, although we don't yet know what form it'll take. Gunfire Games co-founder David Adams says players "will love" the new content the studio is planning to add to the game next year, so watch this space. In the meantime, you can grab Remnant: From the Ashes on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One right now.
