NieR: Automata Anime

Today the NieR: Automata anime made its debut with an explosive first episode, and Aniplex is celebrating.

Specifically, the Japanese arm of the publisher released a creditless version of the opening cutscene, featuring the awesome song "Escalate" performed by Japanese singer Aimer. The video takes a rather interesting approach to anime openings by projecting scenes on real-world locations starting with the twin towers of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government offices in Shinjuku.

You can watch it below.

Another video was released by the western arm of Aniplex, which translated in English the latest trailer published in Japanese a while ago, providing a broader look at the characters and animation than previous trailers.

You can take a look below and get pumped for watching the first episode of the anime.

The anime debuted today, January 7, 2023, and it's available for streaming on Crunchyroll in western countries where the service is available.

It's animated by studio A-1 Pictures and directed by Ryoji Masuyama under the supervision of the franchise's creator Yoko Taro himself. The music will be composed by Keiichi Okabe’s studio MONACA, which is also behind the original soundtrack of the game. if you'd like to see more, you can check out another trailer focusing on A2 and one focusing on the rather obscure character Lily.

If you're interested in the NieR: Automata game itself, it's currently available for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
