Starfield - Looking at the Horizon

Today Bethesda released a new update numbered 1.7.36 for its popular RPG Starfield, focusing mostly on the highly-requested FOV Sliders.

We're getting not one, but two separate sliders to adjust the field of view, one for first-person gameplay and the second for third-person gameplay.

Other than that the update is pretty small at least in terms of patch notes, with a fix for a quest and performance improvements.

Starfield - New Atlantis

Below you can read the full patch notes:

General

  • FOV: Sliders are now available in Settings that allow players using first person or third person to adjust their FOV.

Performance and Stability

  • [PC ONLY] Improved stability for Intel Arc GPUs.
  • Various additional stability and performance improvements.

Quests

  • Echoes of the Past: Addressed an issue where tunneling creatures could pick a location that would prevent progression.

While the update isn't big, the addition of FOV sliders certainly will please many.

Starfield is currently available for PC and Xbox Series X|S. It has already already achieved over 10 million players since its release. This is certainly rather flattering for a brand-new IP.

FOV Sliders are only one of the things that developers have been meaning to add to this popular game. Apparently, they have a long list of features that will make it into the live build at some point.

One of the biggest features many players are waiting for is official and full-fledged mod support. Yet, we'll have to wait quite a bit for that, as it'll come in early 2024

The modding community has already been rather active, but when official mod support gets added, we're likely to see the output of interesting mods explode.
