Mortal Kombat 1 Sub-Zero and Scorpion

Today Warner Bros. Games and Netherrealm Studios released a new trailer of their upcoming fighting game Mortal Kombat 1.

The trailer focuses on the Lin Kuei and reveals Smoke and Rain as playable characters, alongside their ultra-bloody moves. We also get to see the inevitable duo Sub-Zero and Scorpion, on top of a look at Sektor, Cyrax, and Frost.

Of course, the real stars of the show are the fatalities, and there is plenty to see on that front as well. Perhaps, you shouldn't watch this at work unless your employer is a fan of blood and gore, or watching video game trailers at work, I suppose.

On top of the trailer, which you can enjoy below, Netherrealm also aired an episode of its Kombat Kast (which you can watch on YouTube) featuring a ton of new gameplay, including an introduction to Scorpion and Johnny Cage.

Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. If you'd like to see more, you can enjoy the original reveal, and another gameplay trailer. You can also read our hands-on preview in which our Robert Scarpinito describes his time with a build of the game and the new Kameo system.

The game tells the story of an entirely different Mortal Kombat timeline focused on a universe created by Fire God Liu Kang (if seeing Scorpion fight alongside Sub-Zero wasn't enough of an indication that things are very different). Despite the different setting and story, which is basically a reboot for the franchise, you can expect familiar elements like brutal fighting and the inevitably gore-driven fatalities. No matter the universe, Mortal Kombat fighters will always rimbs tear each other to pieces, explode each other, and all that sort of amicable stuff.
