HoYoverse has released a new trailer for Dr. Ratio, the new 5-star character coming to gacha RPG Honkai: Star Rail soon.

Dr. Ratio was originally announced alongside fellow 5-star character Ruan Mei and 4-star Quantum-type character Xueyi when Version 1.6 was unveiled back in December last year.

The good doctor is set to arrive soon as part of the second half of Version 1.6, and a new trailer, titled "Supreme Idiocy", gives us a look at the kind of character we can expect him to be when he does land.

Dr. Ratio is one smart cookie...or is he?

Veritas Ratio, to give him his full name, describes himself as "a scholar and educator", and he's introduced in the trailer as a rather insufferably arrogant academic.

He implores anyone whose "mind exhibit[s] dullness" to "give the doctor a call", as we see him battling enemies using a book. Well, what else is he supposed to use?

Dr. Ratio's voice will be provided by Jordan Paul Haro, who also provided the voice for the Winter's Mark skin for Smite character Hou Yi (although not the character's baseline voice, which was provided by Austin Tindle).

If you're curious about who's voicing the narrator in Dr. Ratio's trailer - that is, the voice waxing lyrical about his genius at the start - that'd be voice actor Bob Johnson.

If you're not familiar with Honkai: Star Rail, it's a turn-based RPG from Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse.

Like Genshin, Honkai revolves around building a party of complementary characters with different strengths and weaknesses, but its combat isn't action-oriented.

Right now, the game is on Version 1.6, but HoYoverse is already planning what's coming as part of Version 2.0, with plenty of gameplay improvements and tweaks on the way in the future.

For now, though, you can download and play Honkai: Star Rail right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices. Stay tuned for more info on this one.
