Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto has landed on his feet after the closure of Disintegration developer V1 Interactive -- he's going to be heading up a new EA Studio in Seattle.

Lehto's last project Disintegration was one of the cooler games we saw at PAX West 2019; it launched less than a year later in the Summer of 2019. Unfortunately, it seems that it didn't bring in enough sales: the game's multiplayer servers shut down just a few short months later and its developer V1 Interactive announced that it was closing its doors in March 2021.

Since then, Marcus Lehto has spent the last several months tweeting about food and waxing nostalgic about Halo, occasionally sharing pics and behind-the-scenes info about the earlier games in the franchise. Now, he's announced his next career move: he's going to be a Game Director at a new EA Studio in Seattle.

EA Backs Next Project for Halo Co-Creator Marcus Lehto at New Seattle Studio

Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto has a fair amount of experience in the industry (especially with first-person shooter games). It should come as no surprise that his next project will be in the same genre at a new EA Studio in Seattle.

"Hey everyone, I’m very excited to announce that I’ve joined @EA as a Game Director, building a new studio in the Seattle area working on first-person games," read a tweet from Lehto. "I can’t wait to share more about what we’re creating!"

As one might expect, his peers in the industry were quite happy for him. He also revealed that The Long Dark creator Raphae van Lierop "helped make the early connections" for his next career move. This isn't the only new studio created by EA in Seattle, either; earlier this year, ex-Monolith VP Kevin Stephens and Samantha Ryan were announced as major players in a separate EA Seattle studio back in May 2021.

Sadly, all we know about this new project for now is that it's going to be some kind of "first-person game." Disintegration may have failed to gain an audience, but Lehto's experience in the genre -- especially with Halo -- ensures that whatever he cooks up next will certainly be worth watching.

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
