Ahead of the upcoming release of Genshin Impact update 2.3, dataminers have uncovered details regarding some of the features of the update. These include new character banners for Arataki Itto and Gorou, as well as a potential new item and more.
What characters are coming in Genshin Impact update 2.3?
According to Genshin Impact data miner Lumie on Twitter, we can expect gang boss Arataki Itto and Inazuman resistance fighter Gorou to be added in the upcoming update as new characters. Tweets on the Genshin Intel Twitter page reveal more about these characters' combat styles. Itto is a five-star claymore wielder whose abilities are all about boosting his damage and crit rate. In contrast to Itto, Gorou is a four-star ranged attacker whose abilities sound more like they're geared towards healing and supporting himself and his allies. Both Lumie and Genshin Intel uploaded gameplay videos showing off Itto and Gorou in action, but they've since been flagged for copyright and removed.

Supposedly, Gorou and Itto will be part of the same Genshin Impact banner and will launch simultaneously on December 14th as the second banner of the update. We don't yet know what the first banner will contain, although Lumie reckons it'll be a re-run. There's also no available information regarding any of the other four-star characters being offered on either banner, so you'll have to stay tuned for more on that.
What other features are coming in Genshin Impact update 2.3?
The upcoming Genshin Impact update is not just about Itto and Gorou. The Genshin Intel page has also found reference to a new item which it's calling the "Omni-Ubiquity Net". This gadget lets you catch critters in Genshin Impact's overworld and store them in your Serenitea pot, essentially taming them as pets. I know what you're thinking, but we don't yet know if you'll be able to train them and battle your critters against one another. Perhaps that feature will be added in a future update.

There's also a new device, which Genshin Intel dubs the "Rhythmic Sprinter", that lets you set up and play custom parkour sequences with friends in your Serenitea pot. Update 2.3 will also offer new Dragonspine events including three new kinds of training: Combat, Agility, and Tracker. Combat lets you battle camps of enemies, Agility tasks you with taking on parkour trials, and Tracker has you searching for snowman parts. There's also a Whopperflower boss to take on and cute new snowman designs to construct, so you'll likely have plenty to do when update 2.3 drops.
When is the Genshin Impact update 2.3 release date?
We're expecting Genshin Impact update 2.3 to launch towards the end of November. This would line up with Itto and Gorou's banner launching on December 14th, as Lumie predicts, and would also fit with the release schedule of Genshin Impact updates thus far. Genshin Impact developer miHoYo recently revealed that update 2.1 of the game raked in an astonishing $151 million for the company, so one thing's for sure: this open-world gacha RPG is here to stay.

We don't yet have a concrete release date for Genshin Impact update 2.3, so stay tuned for more details on this. In the meantime, if you want to see what all the fuss is about, you can download Genshin Impact for free on PC, PlayStation consoles, and mobile platforms. A version of the game is also on its way to the Nintendo Switch, but at the moment, you're out of luck if you're an Xbox gamer, unfortunately.
