The final promotional sprint for Final Fantasy XVI is in full swing in Japan, and today a spectacular ad debuted in a famous location in Tokyo.
Square Enix has started displaying the ad on the Cross Shinjuku Vision screen, a massive L-shaped screen capable of creating the illusion of 3D when watched from the right angle.
The video features a battle between Ifrit and Titan with Shiva also throwing her ice into the scene for additional effect. You can check it out below in a couple of videos from YouTube users みにいちのゲーム部屋 and 夫子旅行channel.
The first video also provides a look at the beautiful art displayed in Shibuya station, which we reported about this morning. This time around including the animation. The second screen also shows a less zoomed-in view of the area.
Final Fantasy XVI will release for PS5 on June 22 at 00:00 local time in all regions. A PC version has also been confirmed by Yoshida-san himself, but Square Enix will need time to optimize the game for the platform, so we don't know when it'll launch. More info will be shared at a later date.
If you'd like to learn more, you can read my preview and enjoy our interview with Yoshida-san and art director Hiroshi Minagawa.
Recently, we learned that PlatinumGames and the Kingdom Hearts team at Square Enix helped out with development. We also saw the release of a lovely trailer focused on the theme song by Kenshi Yonezu.
A demo for PS5 is already available on the PlayStation Store and is playable right now, including the beginning of the game and more. We know that a day-one patch is coming, and improvements in further updates have already been promised.
