Final Fantasy XVI will soon come to PC, but it may not be the last platform the game will be released on, as mentioned by producer Naoki Yoshida.
The website Noisy Pixel interviewed the beloved developer who explained that he'd like to move on to other platforms after the release of the PC version.
Yoshida-san did not mention which platforms he intends to target, nor whether such plans are finalized or not.
The obvious guess about potential new platforms for Final Fantasy XVI is Xbox Series X|S (that just received a Final Fantasy XIV port), albeit we've seen Nintendo Switch ports that didn't initially seem possible. Ultimately, this is only speculation, and we'll have to wait and see, you can hear it from Yoshida-san himself below.
It’s not over in the sense that we have the PC version. Once the PC version is released, we’re thinking about hopefully moving to other platforms as well. However, that’s not really talking about the story; it’s more about moving it onto different platforms.
Hopefully, Yoshida-san's plans will be realized. Final Fantasy XVI is a great game and it certainly deserves to be played by as many gamers as possible.
In the meantime, fans of the game on PS5 have more to look forward to, as the second DLC "The Rising Tide" is launching on April 18, 2024, and we just got some juicy news about its content.
The PC port was announced a while ago, but we don't yet have a release date. The last thing we heard is that it's coming "soon."
