Final Fantasy XIV Garlond GL-IS Motorbike Mount

Today Square Enix released a new batch of "optional items" on the Final Fantasy XIV Online Store to celebrate the upcoming Fan Festival.

If you're unfamiliar with optional items, they're basically the game's microtransactions on top of the monthly subscription all players have to pay for. Luckily, being optional, it's up to you whether to engage or not.

The first item is the Garlond GL-IS motorbike mount with a sidecar. It seats two players, albeit the second will just be attached to the back of the sidecar, as the actual seat is taken by an an Alpha mascot.

It costs $33 discounted due to the ongoing summer sale, which will end on August 16, when it'll go back up to $37. If you think the price is outrageous (let's be honest, it is), it isn't even the most expensive mount available for the game, handily beaten by the 8-seater Lunar Whale.

It comes with the speed increase similar to the SDS Fenrir, and you can see it in action below.

Next, is a new emote named "Advent of Light," obviously inspired by superhero moves. If you like to look cool, you'll have to be ready to spend $6.30 ($7 after the sale ends).

If you'd rather lead the cheer, we get more emotes with glowstick similar to the old Songbirds Cheer Set, but this time it's the Fan-Tastic Cheer Set, priced at $4.50 ($5 after the sale) and including three emotes. You can purchase each separately for $1.80 ($2 after the sale).

Two orchestrion roll sets have also been made available, Eorzean Symphony with 5 songs from the latest orchestra concert, and a second batch from the Pulse remix album with 5 more songs. They are priced at $13.50 each ($15 after the sale).

Not exactly new is the reissue of the swimsuits and bonfire from last year's Moonfire Faire seasonal event, in case you missed it. They're priced at $5 and they aren't discounted. After all, it'd be weird if summer items were discounted during the summer sale right? ...Right.

To be fair, there are some summer items discounted for the sale, but it's the older ones. You can find everything available in the sale on the dedicated page.

Speaking of the Fan Festival, the first event in Las Vegas will begin on Friday, July 28, when we're likely to get the first info on the next expansion. The full schedule has already been shared.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, and PS4. After its fourth expansion "Endwalker," the game currently counts 27 million registered accounts worldwide. The massively popular MMORPG has recently received the major 6.4 update "The Dark Throne" and its follow-up updates. We'll also hear more about 6.5 during the weekend's celebrations.

Recently, producer and director Naoki Yoshida teased the possibility of a collaboration with Final Fantasy XVI. On top of that, Square Enix has made the highly-anticipated third volume of the popular book series Encyclopaedia Eorzea available for pre-order.
