A new Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night character is in development for the next update -- and this playable hero is going to be from another game's universe.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has had a bit of a content drought over the last year. The developers promised to talk about the next update in more detail earlier this month and now they're following through: a brand-new playable character is coming and will be a crossover character from another IP.
What We Know About the New Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Crossover Character
The upcoming Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night crossover character will not be from the game's universe. Sadly, there are no major clues about who this character could be, but a statement from the devs has certainly piqued my interest.
"Our next update will introduce a new playable character to the game," read today's announcement. "This is a change from our previously released roadmap. We can confirm that this new character is NOT from the world of Bloodstained. We have been working closely with a well-known partner to bring their character (and a friend) into the game."
There are our key clues: the crossover character will be from a "well-known partner" of the dev team and it will have some kind of friend with them. As with earlier releases of alternate characters (such as last year's launch of Bloodless), you'll be able to explore the entire game world. That said, you will need to acquire new abilities to access some areas and bosses.
There are a lot of possibilities for who this new crossover character could be based on the few bits of information we have. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for the official reveal as soon as ArtPlay is ready to tell us. For now, you can buy Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on Steam as part of the Steam Halloween sale for just $19.99 or your regional equivalent; you may as well have something to do while you wait for the release of Bloodstained 2.
