The Apex Legends Dark Depths Event has been revealed, launching the new Arenas map "Habitat" and a boatload of new cosmetics early next week.

Apex Legends is a little more than halfway done with Season 11, the latest season of the Battle Royale game which introduced the new Legend Ash. Although Season 11 had a bit of a rough start, it's since stabilized (more or less) and ran LTEs such as the pirate-themed Raiders Collection Event late last year. Now, a new event featuring shiny new aquatic-themed cosmetics and a brand-new Arenas map is here — get ready to go into the Dark Depths!

What's Coming in the Apex Legends Dark Depths Event?

First and foremost, the Apex Legends Dark Depths event will be adding a brand-new Arenas map called "Habitat." This isn't a section of Storm Point that's been carved off of the main Battle Royale map, mind — it's a brand-new map based on the Storm Point theme. While it has more than its fair share of cover, it also has some wide-open areas; it looks like this new map is going to be a paradise for snipers at first glance.

Naturally, the Apex Legends Dark Depths Event will also have a boatload of cosmetics. If you don't have a lot of money in the bank, there's no need to worry: there will also be three weeks of trackers that will allow you to unlock some freebies.

Players completing daily challenges and progressing on the trackers will be able to unlock Battle Pass Stars, Apex Legends packs, and unique themed cosmetics for the Dark Depths Event. This round of freebies includes some unique holosprays in the mix, and the ultimate prizes are skins for the Alternator and Revenant.

Of course, there will also be premium packs available for purchase. This time around, the Apex Legends Dark Depths Packs will be priced at 400 Apex Coins — a somewhat more reasonable price than the 700 Apex Coins that was charged in previous events.

When is the Apex Legends Dark Depths Start Date?

The Apex Legends Dark Depths Event start date is Tuesday, January 11, 2022. The event will run until February 1, 2022, and there will be a total of three weeks of Flash Event trackers that will give players an opportunity to catch up on the Battle Pass and score some freebies.

There's one thing to bear in mind: Respawn has temporarily disabled the Rampage, Sentinel, and MIL-SPEC Bangalore skins due to a number of bugs and exploits associated with these items. They will be returning as soon as their respective problems are resolved.

The aquatic theme of Season 11 is alive and well with this new event; you'll be able to play it when it launches early next week. If you haven't yet jumped into Respawn's Battle Royale game, you can play Apex Legends for free on PC and consoles via its official website.
