Our The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Great Forge of Narvi Repair Guide will tell you how to repair the Forge and get access to the Steel Pick and other unique Crafting recipes.
As you might expect, a big part of The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is Crafting useful Weapons and Armor. Some items, however, can only be made at special "Great Forges." The first Great Forge you encounter is broken and it's up to you to fix it -- read on to learn how to restore this great piece of Dwarven machinery!
Where is the Great Forge of Narvi in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria?
The Great Forge of Narvi is located next to The Elven Quarter in The Western Halls in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. It's typically occupied by at least one Ork Camp, and you're likely to encounter one or more Ork Camp nearby.
How to Repair The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Great Forge of Narvi
If you want to repair The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Great Forge of Narvi, you'll need to replace three broken pieces of equipment. Unfortunately, one of them is entirely missing, so you'll have to rebuild it.
First, you'll need the following items:
- 15 Wood Scraps
- 6 Stone
- 6 Coal
- 10 Iron Ingot (possibly more)
- Food (Just in case)
- A melee Weapon
- A Shield
Head to the Great Forge of Narvi; you can find it just past The Elven Quarter in The Western Halls on the Map.
As you move through The Elven Quarter, you're going to encounter a larger breed of Ork called Goblinmen and Cave Bears. These will be tough opponents to fight with Tier 1 equipment, so you may want to avoid these fights by moving around them. If you do have to fight them, remember to use your shield base to stun them.
When you get to the Great Forge of Narvi, you'll find that it is cold and dark. As you look around, you'll see that there are there pieces missing from the Forge:
- Replacement Pipe: up the stairs to the right of the Forge
- Replacement Gear: up the stairs to the left of the Forge
- Replacement Crank: at the pedestal in front of the Forge
In my experience, the Replacement Gear and the Replacement Crank can be found in the area. The Replacement Pipe, however, will be missing.
Interacting with the parts or the targets for the missing parts will teach you the Crafting Recipes for these items. Making any one of these parts will cost anywhere from 3 to 5 Iron and you'll need a Forge.
As you replace the parts, you'll notice that you have to carry them by hand. You cannot jump or run, and you are extraordinarily vulnerable when doing so.
It is definitely possible to carry parts all the way from your starter base at Ori's Outpost. That said, it is much easier to Build a Forge near the Great Forge of Narvi.
An important note: do not Build a Camp inside of the Great Forge of Narvi, any other Great Forges, or any story-critical locations on the Map. A bug can put these Camps under permanent Siege, and there is no way to stop it in the release version of the game other than by avoiding Building a Camp inside of these locations.
Place a Camp Hearth somewhere within the Great Forge of Narvi. Keep in mind that this will count as a "Camp," making it vulnerable to potential sieges. Then, Build a Forge. Craft the parts you need, then place them in the Great Forge of Narvi.
Once you've replaced all three pieces of the Great Forge of Narvi, it will automatically restart and you'll gain access to Steel equipment. You'll also get access to unique Weapons and Armor that can only be Crafted at this specific Great Forge.
This process of Crafting Replacement Parts will be used again for other objects in later areas of Moria. If you encounter them again, remember how easy it was to build a Camp Hearth and a Forge compared to hauling Replacement Parts through the caves!
