In this The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria The Crystal Descent Lift Guide, we'll tell you how to fix the Lift and where to find the Resources to fix it.

There are many majestic locations to explore on the Map of The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, but few are as impressive and colorful as The Crystal Descent. Unfortunately, you'll need to find the right Resources (and do a bit of clever Building) to make your way to the bottom -- read on to learn how to get past this obstacle and enter The Lower Deeps.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria The Crystal Descent Lift Guide - Looking Down into The Crystal Descent

Where is The Crystal Descent in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria?

You can find The Crystal Descent in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria in one of the rooms in the Mines of Moria, the second half of the Map in The Western Halls.

The top of The Crystal Descent has a Lift that you'll need to repair if you want to advance into The Lower Deeps. Do not attempt to Build Rope Ladders or anything else to descend; the only way down is to repair The Crystal Descent.

How to Repair The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria The Crystal Descent Lift

You can repair The Crystal Descent Lift in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria with the following Resources:

  • 15 Black Diamond
  • 20 Elven Wood
  • 30 Natural Fiber

Elven Wood is easy enough to find; all you need to do is chop down trees in The Elven Quarter. Natural Fiber is equally easy to get; you can acquire it by killing Spiders or destroying their nests in the Mines of Moria.

Black Diamonds, however, are one of the more challenging Resources to acquire. You can find a handful of them by opening Orkish Chests, but your best bet to get a large quantity of Black Diamonds at this point in the game is to fight and defeat Bolgakh, the first major boss in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. There is also a Map Stone nearby that can be repaired for 1 Black Diamond if you wish.

Once you've repaired the Lift, you'll have to make your descent to the bottom. I strongly advise that you Build a small Camp at the top of The Crystal Descent in case you fall and die. It's also important to Build Quick Platforms and Rope Ladders on your way down so that you can climb back up The Crystal Descent later.
