Animal Well All Item Locations

Throughout Animal Well you'll get a chance to obtain a number of items that will enhance your exploration of the world. Many of these items will assist you in completing the game, and opening up different portions of the map to find all kinds of secrets and collectibles.

This guide will go over the main items that show in the central section of your inventory. If you're interested in discovering the locations of all of the Animal Well Eggs or Matches and Candles then be sure to check out our specific guides for that.

Please note that there will be some spoilers so be warned as you scroll through. The items will be separated by those required to reach the credits, Key items, and post-credit items. As obtaining the post-credit items are more in-depth we have created separate guides for each of them.

Usable Items in Animal Well

Firecrackers

You'll obtain the firecrackers early on in the game and they're impossible to miss.

The Firecrackers can be used to light up dark spaces temporarily, destroy ghosts, and scare away the Kangaroo.

Animal Flute

You can obtain the Flute by entering the Egg Room after obtaining 8 Secret Eggs. You can check your Secret Egg status on the Inventory Screen to the left.

Once 8 Secrets Eggs have been collected you'll hear a sound. Travel to the Egg Room by going to the left and then up from the central chamber. The doorway with eight marks on it will open, travel through it to find the chest that contains the Flute.

The Flute can be used to play a number of different songs that you can discover while playing.

Lantern

The Lantern can be obtained in the final area of the game. This area unlocks after obtaining all four flames and returning them to the central chamber. This item is not missable.

The Lantern lets you push away the purple hazardous zones, light up dark areas, scare away ghosts, and pass through ghost enemies

Top

The Top is the reward for obtaining 32 Secret Eggs. Just like the Flute once you collect 32 Secret Eggs you'll hear a sound letting you know you can return to the room and claim your prize.

The Top can be used to destroy objects like spikes and can also reveal destructible ground.

Disc

The Disc can be obtained from the giant animal head statue that is you can reach by exiting the Egg room, going one room up, and two rooms to the left.

The Disc can be used to trigger switches and buttons, distract enemies, and can be ridden.

B. Wand

The B. Wand can be obtained by heading to the biome to the left of the central area. As you progress past the room with the Seahorse that blows bubbles it will be in a chest.

The Bubble Wand can be used to create one bubble at a time that will slowly rise. You can stand on it and it will begin to slowly drop.

Yoyo

The Yoyo is obtained by going to the right and down from the central area. You will obtain it shortly after dropping down a large shaft to a dark area with glowing lights. This item is impossible to miss.

The Yoyo can be used to destroy objects, get different animal's attentions, and change the direction of animals running on wheels.

Slink

The Slink can be obtained by going to the right and up from the central area. After making your way throught the Jungle area you'll obtain the Slink. This item is unmissable.

 

Key Items

Map

The Map is obtained in a chest just as you're about to leave the starting area and enter the central area.

Stamps

Stamps can be obtained in a chest in the Egg Room. There's no egg collection requirements to obtain these.

The stamps can be used to mark your maps with specific symbols.

Pencil

The Pencil is a reward for obtaining 16 Secret Eggs. Just like the Flute once you collect 16 Secret Eggs you'll hear a sound letting you know you can return to the room and claim your prize.

The Pencil can be used to freely draw on your map.

House Key

The House Key is obtained after completing the Final Area of the map. It allows you to enter the house to the right.

Office Key

The Office Key is obtained after completing the Egg Song Puzzle. This allows you to enter the office on the second floor of the house.

 

Upgrade Items

F. Pack

The F. Pack can be obtained in the house once you complete the Final Area. It will be in a chest behind a locked door in the lower right of the house. 

This will allow you to carry 6 Fireworks at once.

B. B. Wand

From the House go left one screen and then up one screen. From here you can find a secret passage to the left to enter a room with skulls on the ground. Open the upper chest to obtain the B. B. Wand.

This upgrades your wand to be able to create as many bubbles as you want instead of just one at a time.

 

Additional Usable Items

Remote

After completing the Jungle area and defeating the Chameleon return to the Central area of the map. Travel one screen to the right and up the ladder. Go right one more screen, up the ladder, and across the bridge to the right. You'll end up in a room where you previously had to avoid a Chameleon, but he is now gone.

Go to where the Chameleon previously was and you'll obtain the S. Medal.

Once you have the S. Medal backtrack to the starting area of the game. In the room under the save point use the bubble to reach the stone tablet in the upper right. Put the S. Medal inside to open a door.

Travel to the right, down two screens, and then to the left once screen to reach the room with the Remote.

 

Bouncy Ball

Track down the Kangaroo that appears around the map. Each time you run into him throw a firecracker and he will drop a third of the K. Medal. There are five different locations that he can appear in.

Once you've collected all three pieces of the K. Medal bring the K. Medal to the room to the left of the dark room in the far north-west of the map. This is the room that the bat appears in if you have lit the candle.

At the bottom of the room that the K. Medal opens up you'll obtain the Bouncy Ball.

The bouncy ball can break objects and can trigger a Breakout style minigame in various locations.

 

Wheel

The Wheel can be obtained in the Bobcat room. To reach the Bobcat room travel from the Penguin Save Room down one room and then to the left. Use the Top on the ground to break it away and reveal a way out of the room to the left. You will see a chest in the cage.

To open the cage you need to free the Bobcat's five children. They are in the Ostrich area in the South-East of the Map. Each cat will be in a cage with a symbol above it, you can learn what to play by finding directional codes around the South-East portion of the map and then playing them near the relevant cat cage.

Once all five cats are free return to the Bobcat and they will sing the Wheel cage open.

The Wheel lets you roll over spikes that would normally damage you.

 

UV Wand

After finding all of the matches and lighting all of the candles return to the room to the left of the start of the game. A wall will open with a fish head tunnel.

Go through this tunnel to obtain another disc.

Bring the disc to the bottom left of the map where you fought the Seahorse for the second time and obtained the Blue fire. In the room to the right of the Blue Fire instead of leaving through the fish head exit through the secret passage to the top right. Place the medal and follow the newly opened path.

Drop down into the pit and you'll face off against a large skeletal fish, play notes corresponding to the direction of bubbles it plays to freeze it. Enter its mouth to obtain the UV Wand.

ALTERNATIVELY

You can play the following code at any time in your flute to be taken to a secret part of the Warp Room. Opening the doors will reveal a chest with the UV Wand in it
