2K has announced that the WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 servers will be shutting down in June 2022, ending online services for those games while it shifts its "full focus" towards supporting WWE 2K22.
The launch of WWE 2K20 had more than its fair share of problems -- graphical bugs, missing features, and other issues plagued the game on launch. It got so bad, in fact, that customers started asking for refunds on PS4.
In the time since then, the pandemic kicked off and a lot of business slowed to a crawl around the world, game development included. That resulted in the cancellation of WWE 2K21, but it all worked out for the best -- WWE 2K22 ended up being so good that it sold more than double the copies of its predecessor.
WWE 2K22 launched back in March 2022 and it's doing fairly well as far as wrestling games go. The previous two games WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 still had all of their online functionality, too, but that's changing soon -- the servers for these older WWE games are going to be shutting down late next month.
When Are WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 Servers Shutting Down?
The WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 servers will be shutting down on June 30, 2022, according to a tweet from the official WWE 2K account.
"Attention WWE 2K community: On June 30, 2022, we will sunset support for WWE 2K19 & WWE 2K20 servers," read the tweet. "This includes all online functions, such as online matches & Community Creations. We are turning our full focus toward supporting #WWE2K22. Thanks for your continued support!"
While these older games are going the way of the dodo, WWE 2K22 is there to take its place. You can buy WWE 2K22 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent.
