Are you ready to get digital, brother? Well, apparently a lot of people are in the UK, with WWE 2K22 sales more than doubling WWE 2K20's sales on the UK Digital Charts. How much more exactly? Well, about WWE 2K22 was the second most downloaded game in the UK last week, with digital launch sales 390% higher than WWE 2K20's, with physical and digital sales combined being more than double WWE 2K20..
72% of WWE 2K22 sales were also digital, compared to 30% WWE 2K20's sales back in 2019. That's a big jump, and it goes to show how much the gaming industry has shifted to digital within the last decade or so. It'll be interesting to see if we'll even have physical games ten years down the line.
Want to see the full sales? Well, here is the GSD UK Digital Top Ten (week ending March 12th):
Position | Title |
---|---|
1 | Elden Ring (Bandai Namco) |
2 | WWE 2K22 (2K Games) |
3 | Gran Turismo 7 (Sony) |
4 | FIFA 22 (EA) |
5 | Grand Theft Auto 5 (Rockstar) |
6 | Red Dead Redemption 2 (Rockstar) |
7 | Star Wars Battlefront 2 (EA) |
8 | Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (Activision Blizzard) |
9 | Assassin's Creed Valhalla (Ubisoft) |
10 | Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Ubisoft) |
That's one weird list. Elden Ring and WWE 2K22 make sense, as does Gran Turismo 7, FIFA 22, and so on. But then we hit Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Call of Duty Black Ops 2? That's bizarre. Both are extremely old, and Black Ops 2 came out in 2012. Who is buying a ten year old game? A lot of UK digital gamers, apparently. There must be a bundle or deal somewhere, but hey, maybe BO2 is coming back. If it is, I'm definitely here for it.
