Microids and developer Osome Studio have announced The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of Green Stone, a new 3D platformer set in (what else?) the Smurfs universe. The game is heading to PC and consoles in November and will pit your little blue friends against the Stolas, who are threatening to take over the Smurf village.

This new Smurfs game serves as the followup to Osome and Microids' 2021 platformer The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf, which was first teased all the way back in 2020 (remember that year?). I doubt you'll need intimate knowledge of that first game to check this one out, though. You can take a look at the new teaser trailer for The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of Green Stone here.

The plot - for there is indeed a plot - concerns Handy Smurf inventing a new contraption called the SmurfoMix, which requires one last component to work. Naturally, the mission to retrieve said component goes horribly awry, and Handy Smurf accidentally summons the evil Stolas into the Smurfs' universe. Together with three other Smurfs, Handy must rid the world of the Stolas and rescue his people.

For the first time in Smurfs game history, you'll be able to team up with Gargamel in The Smurfs 2. You'll use teleporters of his design to travel through the Cursed Land and discover 3 hitherto-unexplored regions. Let's hope this doesn't mean The Smurfs is following the same trend as Mario, because we could all do without Gargamel's Inside Story.

As you'd expect, The Smurfs 2 is a 3D platformer that will include action and combat sections. You can collect resources to improve your SmurfoMix as you play, augmenting your abilities in numerous ways. What's more, The Smurfs 2 will feature co-op, so it should be a good way to prepare your friend or family member for the upcoming Smurfs tabletop game.

The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of Green Stone comes to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch on November 2nd.
