From Software has announced that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice sales have crossed a major milestone worldwide.

The hack-and-slash adventure, which was released back in 2019, has passed the 10 million sales mark, putting it on par with games like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2It Takes Two, and Dead Cells.

In a post on X acknowledging the sales performance, From Software thanked fans for their enjoyment of the game.

Community manager Yasuhiro Kitao, meanwhile, posted a rather stylish picture of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice protagonist Wolf, accompanied by a thank-you message.

Sekiro may not have enjoyed the 20-million-strong sales performance of Soulslike titan Elden Ring, but 10 million is still a respectable number for what many consider to be a fairly niche entry into From Software's characteristic action-RPG canon.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has hit a big sales milestone, From Software has announced.

Released in 2019, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice follows Wolf, a shinobi who must retrieve his charge after a samurai clan kidnaps the young lord for unclear reasons.

Wolf must sneak and slash his way through the state of Ashina, battling human and supernatural enemies with his trusty sword, his prosthetic arm, and his grappling hook.

Sekiro takes a slightly different approach to the Soulslike formula when compared to the Souls series and Elden Ring; Wolf is limited to a sword for his main melee weapon, instead relying on a series of different prosthetic arm tools for build variation.

It's a more streamlined and less sprawling take on the genre, although the ten million sales figure suggests that Sekiro has still very much found its niche.

Calls for a sequel are constant, just as they are with From Software's PlayStation 4 hit Bloodborne. No sequel has yet been announced, but hey - at least you can play Sekiro on PC, right?

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is available right now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It can also be enjoyed on current-gen machines via backwards compatibility. You can read my review of the game right here.
