PlayStation State of Play January 2024 Recap - Check Out All the News, Trailers, and Reveals

Sony just hosted the first State of Play broadcast of 2024, including many reveals from developers around the world. 

The livestreamed event included new extensive looks at Stellar Blade by Goddess of Victory: Nikke developer ShiftUp and Koei Tecmo's Rise of the Ronin, with trailers and announcements of many upcoming games on the menu. 

If you couldn't watch the show as it's broadcasted live, or you'd rather read about all the announcements and reveals in one place without having to sit through the whole 40-minute stream, below you can find all the juicy bits for your perusal.  

We start with a new trailer of Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead Studios, which is coming for PS5 and PC on February 8, 2024.

Next, we take an extended look at Stellar Blade by ShiftUp, the studio behind the popular mobile game Goddess of Victory: Nikke. We get to see gameplay, characters, and the post-apocalyptic setting of the title, which was originally announced as Project Eve a few years ago. 

We also learn the release date, which is April 26, 2024, for PS5. 

Next on the menu is Sonic X Shadow Generations by Sega, coming in Autumn 2024 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.  

HoYoverse officially announced the PS5 version of its action RPG Zenless Zone Zero, which is also coming for PC, iOS, and Android.

Square enix showcased Foamstars,  a look at seasonal content in the new trailer. The game is coming on February 6 for PS5 and PS4.

The next announcement comes from Dave the Diver developer Mintrocket, with the release window of the game for PS5 and PS4 in April and a free Godzilla DLC coming in May. 

We then take a look at the immersive Vampire Action RPG Survival Game V Rising by Stunlock Studios, coming in 2024 for PS5. The game is already available for PC via Steam.

Next on the menu is Konami's Silent Hill franchise, starting with Silent Hill: The Short Message, a free-to-play game for PS5 actually releasing today. 

Of course, that's not all we get to see from the storied horror franchise, as Konami presented a new trailer of Silent Hill 2 in development at Bloober Team, revealing combat gameplay. The game is coming for PS5 and PC, but we don't get a release window just yet.

We then get a new trailer of Judas by Ghost Story Games of BioShock fame. The game doesn't yet have a release window, but it's coming for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Moving on to the PlayStation VR2 Segment, we start with Metro Awakening VR by VertigoGames, coming in 2024 for PlayStation VR 2, Meta Quest, and Steam VR.

The second PlayStation VR2 game is Legendary Tales by UrbanWolf Games, an action RPG releasing on February 8, 2024, for PlayStation VR2 and Steam VR. The game has actually been in early access on Steam since 2021, and this is the announcement of its full release. 

Moving back to games on flat screens, Capcom showcased a new trailer of Dragon's Dogma 2, which will be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 22, 2024. This time around, we get to see some spiffy action gameplay.

Koei Tecmo provided an extensive look at Rise of the Ronin by Team Ninja, introduced by director Fumihiko Yasuda of Nioh fame himself. The game is coming for PS5 on March 22, 2024.

Ballistic Moon presented Until Dawn, "rebuilt and enhanced" for PS5 and PC, releasing in 2024.

Kojima Productions finally provided an extensive look at Death Stranding 2: on the Beach (which is the new official title), coming in 2025 for PS5. Kojima-san also announced that he'll work on a new Espionage Action game after work on Death Stranding 2 concludes.
