Closing out the PlayStation State of Play today, Hideo Kojima took the Stage after talking about Death Stranding 2 to reveal that he intends to work on a "next-generation espionage action" game. For those who aren't familiar, "espionage action" is how Kojima-san has traditionally referred to the Metal Gear series he created while at Konami.

Production will kick off in earnest after Death Stranding 2 ships, but he did share a bit of information on the game. Interestingly, we also have a working title, "Physint." Yet, it's not the final name.

He feels that it will be the "culmination" of his work, and will be made with cutting-edge technology and talent from all over the world. While it will be an interactive game, he also says it will be like a movie "in terms of look, story, theme, cast, acting, fashion, and sound."

Kojima-san specifically cited how Sony is involved in both movies and music beyond video games, and he hopes the game will 'transcend the barriers' between games and film.

During the Sony State of Play, Kojima-san also got a moment to showcase his upcoming game, Death Stranding 2. After some frankly weird footage, we cut to Norman Reedus' Sam Porter on the DHV Magellan, a ship of sorts that travels the strands, seeking to help connect people.

Death Stranding 2 has a baby who has a space ship emerge from it flying away
This spaceship actually emerged from the baby's mouth...

After the first game, the UCA was connected, but the Bridges organization drifted apart.

Sam Poter's allies have gone their separate ways and Sam himself went his own way. In their place is Drawbridge, an organization that seeks to connect the UCA with other territories, and that Sam Porter is working with, as human porters are no longer needed in America. Joining Norman Reedus' character is a talking puppet, who will apparently be a companion in this game.

The trailer showcases Elle Fanning, who appears toward the end. It also hints to a few interesting mysteries, like what happened to Lou. "Should we have connected" also appears to be a relevant question that the story may get to answer.
