Sony and developer Arrowhead Studios have released some new Helldivers 2 info that shows just how grand the game's campaign will be.
Known as the Galactic War, the main campaign in Helldivers 2 will see you and your friends choosing missions at a War Table and strategically deciding which target is the most valuable.
You'll first select a planet, then choose an Operation. Each Operation consists of up to three missions, with each mission offering a different primary objective; you might be called on to eradicate enemies, destroy supplies, or fire missiles, for instance.
Helldivers 2's galactic map will show you which planets are priority targets and where the current battlefront is on each planet, and you'll then get to decide where you're going to deploy and which enemies you're going to take on.
There are two kinds of Orders in Helldivers 2: Major Orders and Personal Orders. The former are big targets that the whole Helldivers 2 community is fighting for, while the latter are smaller-scale objectives that offer rewards for you and your squad.
Missions reward you with various resources you can use to upgrade your ship and yourself, and Arrowhead says you'll be able to create a loadout that fits your personal playstyle.
Intriguingly, Arrowhead also says it'll be watching players as they interact with the Galactic War, and that positive or negative consequences could be imposed on players depending on the flow of Helldivers 2's story.
Helldivers 2 was originally revealed to be coming to PS5 and PC back in May 2023.
During a later PlayStation Showcase, Sony announced that the squad-based third-person shooter had been delayed, giving it a new release date of February 8th, 2024.
Thankfully, no further delays appear to be incoming. Helldivers 2 is on track for a February 8th release on PlayStation 5 and PC. Stay tuned for more on this one.
