Bad news if you're waiting on tenterhooks for more Phasmophobia console release news: the console versions of the spooky ghost-hunting game have been delayed again.

The console versions of the game were originally due to launch in October, which would have made sense; it is spooky season, after all.

Now, however, according to a new Steam news postPhasmophobia won't hit consoles in October as previously announced, and no new release date has been announced.

Developer Kinetic Games says it needs more time to address the "complexity of [its] current challenges" with regards to Phasmophobia's console development, chief among which is the "fire incident" that affected the studio's offices in August.

In addition, since Phasmophobia will also be launching for PlayStation VR2, the devs decided to rework the Maple Lodge Campsite in order to optimize its performance better, which has set console release efforts back a little way.

Said rework will add a new reception area, as well as bringing more spots to hide in, new decorations, and, as you'd expect, improved performance.

Phasmophobia's Halloween event promises to be positively terrifying.

Of course, since this is Phasmophobia we're talking about, there's also a Halloween event on the way.

Scheduled to start "on or around" October 26th, the Halloween event will task you with creating a potion by finding recipe cards throughout several locations.

You'll get a new ID card and trophy for your troubles, and you'll also be able to enjoy new spooky decorations in the campsite and the lobby. As if Phasmophobia wasn't already spooky enough.

If you're not up to speed, Phasmophobia is a multiplayer horror game in which you and your compatriots work together to document ghostly activity.

The game is currently in Early Access, but it's received a number of updates since it launched, including the major Ascension update, which added new equipment and reworked leveling back in August.

Phasmophobia has proven pretty popular and influential, too, with games like Do You See Sparky? being fairly obviously influenced by Kinetic's game.

We'll bring you more on Phasmophobia, including any potential new console release date, as soon as we get it.
