Sojourn in Overwatch 2's new animated short "Calling"

Today Blizzard released another awesome animated short dedicated to Overwatch 2, and more specifically Sojourn.

The video portrays the Canadian veteran also known as Vivian Chase following the disbanding of the original Overwatch, as she lives an apparently normal life in Toronto, albeit under strict surveillance.

Yet, this doesn't mean she has given up the fight, and when the Canadian city is attacked by Null Sector, she is prepared to rally its defenders to protect its citizens.

If you know Blizzard's animated shorts, you probably won't be surprised to learn that this is another hit, and if you love Overwatch's backstory, it's probably going to hit you straight in the feels.

This is part of a series of videos exploring the backstory of the franchise, which included a series of anime-style shorts (you can watch the first, the second, and the third) depicting the origins of the Omnics and the following Omnic Crisis, on top of the foundation of the original Overwatch.

You can check it out below.

Another trailer showcasing the upcoming Invasion story-driven content launching on August 10 has also been released. Basically, it'll let you play what happened in the backstory of the franchise just after today's short.

Overwatch 2, which is currently still in its season 5, is out for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It's free-to-play, so you can try it out without any purchase required, but, of course, it has plenty of optional microtransactions to draw revenue from.

Incidentally, a few weeks ago Blizzard Entertainment revealed the roadmap including season 7 and beyond, so we already have a partial idea of what further seasons will entail.
