Today Bandai Namco announced two new DLC characters that will join the playable roster of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, Yamato and Hybrid Kaidou.
This follows the announcement made a few weeks ago that the game will get not one, but three new Character Passes. Today's reveal completes the roster of the fourth, which will launch later this month.
Alongside Luffy Gear 5, as you can see below, we're also getting Yamato and Hybrid Kaidou. Quite obviously, the pack is themed after Onigashima.
Incidemntally, we already know that the headline character for the Character Pass 5 will be Uta, as her silhouette is unmistakable. On the other hand, the jury is still out for the sixth pack, but my money would be on Gol D. Roger. .
While Hybrid Kaidou is only showcased via a small picture, Yamato does get a full fledged trailer showing him in action.
The trailer also showcases Yamato's second form, and you can watch it below.
The release of three new DLC packages for a game released over three years ago shouldn't be too surprising considering the precedents with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. Bandai Namco appears to love long microtransaction tails for its anime games.
If you're unfamiliar with One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, it debuted in 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can read our review, in which our Andrew Stretch described it as "a fun way to kill some time and become King of the Pirates."
In the meanwhile, Bandai Namco has continued its string of One Piece games, switching the genre to JRPG with One Piece Odyssey, which recently received its own DLC.
