Another new mod for Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord is bringing more fantasy worlds to the realm of Calradia. Just released into beta, The Old Realms brings players to the world of Warhammer during the ascent of Karl Franz to the throne of the Empire of Man.
The Old Realms lets players explore the medieval fantasy world of Warhammer, meeting and fighting alongside (or against) famous characters from the period such as Karl Franz and Grimgor Ironhide, as well as seeing famous locations like Karaz-A-Karak and Castle Drakenhof. Players will also have access to a variety of Warhammer-themed features. Most notably is the ability to be a vampire, use magic/prayers, or utilize the powers of necromancy in order to recruit undead troops. Players looking to try out all three features on a single character should choose the "Vampiric Nobility" background during character creation. However, prayers are exclusive to the "Warrior Priest Acolyte" background, so players will inevitably have to create a second character to experience everything the mod has to offer.
The beta for The Old Realms beta was quietly released on the mod's Discord several days ago, and marks the completion of the first phase of the overhaul mod's development. So far, the team has managed to bring in the Empire of Man, the Vampire Counts, and the Dwarves as factions in the game. If all goes to plan, the team will be recreating the entirety of the Old World while ensuring the factions and significant locations are as lore-accurate as possible. The team is always on the lookout for more members to help them bring their modding project to life, and you can apply on the Applications channel on the mod's Discord.
