Street Fighter 6 Zangief

Today Capcom published a video showing a match between two of two characters that will be playable in Street Fighter 6, Zangief and Marisa

As usual, the match is in the short three-round format and is played by the developers, providing a pretty good look at what these two fighters play like in the new chapter of the popular fighting series.

Incidentally, while Zangief has been around basically forever and is one of Street Fighter 6's returning characters, Marisa is brand new

You can check the action out below.

As mentioned above, Marisa is a fully new character who never appeared in the Street Fighter series before. She hails from Italy, and she's described as follows:

Marisa is an up-and-coming jewelry designer from Italy who claims ancestry to ancient Greek warriors. A powerhouse of a character, Marisa utilizes her long limbs to unleash slow yet gargantuan strikes like the devastating Gladius, defensive counter Scutum, powerful Quadriga kick, and the almighty Goddess of the Hunt. Bask in the scent of victory in Colosseo, Marisa’s stage, with battle-ready warriors in the background cheering you on.

Here's a description of Zangief from his reveal a few weeks ago, bringing us up to speed on what he's been up to.

Rumbling his way onto the scene is the immense Zangief, an original World Warrior who loves to show off for the crowd at Barmaley Steelworks. A professional wrestler by trade, Zangief keeps hold of his trademark throws like the Screw Piledriver and Siberian Express,  picking up new moves like the counter throw Tundra Storm. His Level 2 Super Art Cyclone Lariat and Level 3 Super Art Bolshoi Storm Buster are sure to be crowd-pleasers.

This follows several gameplay clips showcasing full matches played by the developers including Marisa herself versus ManonDee Jay versus Dhalsim, and Blanka versus JP. We recently also learned that Japanese actress Hikaru Takahashi joined the roster of commentators for the Real-Time Commentary feature introduced for the game.

Street Fighter 6 is releasing on June 2, 2023. This time around, it's returning to its multiplatform nature, as it'll launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It'll also come to the arcades via Taito, albeit that version won't probably leave Japan at least for the time being.
