Satirical anime visual novel Needy Streamer Overload has passed a million sales, developer and publisher WSS Playground has announced. The game was released in January last year and depicts the life of Ame, a "hot mess of a girl" who transforms into her lively alter-ego OMGkawaiiAngel when she streams.

Right out of the gate, Needy Streamer Overload sales were pretty strong; it managed to top 100,000 sales within its first week on release. Now, it looks like the game has racked up another 900,000 sales since then, and WSS Playground has released a new trailer for Needy Streamer Overload to celebrate. You can check out that trailer here.

In Needy Streamer Overload, you play as the manager of Ame, who WSS Playground describes as a "ridiculously selfish and vapid girl" with a "desperate need for approval". When she's streaming, Ame becomes OMGkawaiiAngel, who "pretends to be really nice and sweet" and flirts with "nerd types".

As P-chan, Ame's producer and significant other, you must guide her streaming efforts and try to help her become a better streamer. As you're probably gathering, this isn't a particularly happy-go-lucky game; it contrasts its brightly-colored anime visuals with commentary on streaming and influencer culture. The Steam page outright wonders whether it's possible for "a cute yet disturbed girl" on the modern internet to get a happy ending in any way.

As you play, you'll manage Ame's streams, try to find new topics for her to talk about, and deal with the many fans who try to interact with her. Needy Streamer Overload has multiple endings, so depending on how you act towards Ame and how you deal with her daily challenges, you'll get a different outcome.

Needy Streamer Overload is available to play right now on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Hey, maybe you can even stream it for that extra touch of postmodern irony.
