D3 Publisher has announced the Earth Defense Force 6 release date, so get ready to strap your jetpack on and start blasting some bugs.
Per a new trailer, Earth Defense Force 6 launches on PC and PlayStation consoles on July 25th, having already been available for some time in Japan.
Originally, Earth Defense Force 6 was set to launch in spring, but D3 Publisher and developer Sandlot delayed the game in order to add some extra polish. Given that this is Earth Defense Force, I can only imagine what the game looked like before that polish was implemented.
News of Earth Defense Force 6's release date was revealed alongside a brand new trailer, which takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to proceedings that's not a million miles away from that of Helldivers 2.
It takes the form of a mock TV broadcast, including a comedy compensation ad and a news bulletin, both of which revolve around the titular Earth Defense Force's struggle against massive insectoid invaders.
You can check the trailer out here. It doesn't have the greatest acting or presentation in the world, but like Earth Defense Force as a whole, it's got a lot of heart and charm.
If you're unfamiliar with Earth Defense Force 6, it's the sixth mainline game in the Earth Defense Force series, which also includes spinoff entries like the upcoming Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2.
The series sees players taking on missions to destroy alien enemies using a variety of weapons, character classes, and other tools. It's essentially a lower-budget Helldivers 2 with a broader scope and less overt cynicism.
Earth Defense Force 6 mobilizes for PC via Steam, as well as PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, on July 25th. Stay tuned for more on this and all other things Earth Defense Force-related.
