Sales analysis group Circana has released its monthly gaming industry sales data, and Capcom's open-world RPG Dragon's Dogma 2 has done pretty well for itself.

After Helldivers 2 topped February's chart and January was dominated by the twin titans of Call of Duty and Palworld, March is very much Dragon's Dogma 2's month, which probably won't surprise you if you've been keeping up with its sales figures.

According to the ever-reliable Mat Piscatella, Dragon's Dogma 2 topped Circana's chart for premium games in dollar sales terms, beating out competition from the likes of Helldivers 2MLB: The Show 24, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

On a per-platform basis, MLB: The Show 24 takes the PlayStation top spot for premium games in March, with Helldivers 2 coming in second and Dragon's Dogma 2 in third.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is in the number one spot on Xbox. Second place goes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, while third place is occupied by WWE 2K24.

Since Dragon's Dogma 2 didn't launch on Switch, it naturally doesn't get a look-in on Nintendo's platform. Instead, the top spot there goes to Princess Peach: Showtime!, with Unicorn Overlord and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bringing up second and third place, respectively.

According to Piscatella and Circana, Dragon's Dogma 2 has already beaten the life-to-date dollar sales of both Dragon's Dogma and its expanded re-release Dark Arisen, a feat of which Capcom will probably be pretty proud.

The hardware market is looking a little grim for March. Hardware spending fell 32% according to Circana's data, although since we're in the tail end of all three major consoles' life cycles right now, that's perhaps to be expected.

The PS5 topped both unit and dollar sales in Circana's estimation, with the Switch bringing up the rear on unit sales and Xbox Series machines coming in second for dollar sales.
