Publisher Anchor and developer NextNinja hosted a livestream about the upcoming Muv-Luv mobile game Muv-Luv Dimensions.
First of all, we learn that the game has passed 300,000 pre-registration in its on ongoing campaign, unlocking another bonus. As a result, we're all getting a PDF of the novel version of Teito Moyu (the prequel chapter of Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse). Of course, this doesn't mean it'll get localized just yet.
Another interesting reveal is the rates for the gacha, which is particularly generous compared to many other gacha games. SSR units are at 3%, SR at 12%, and R at 85%.
At launch, which will be on July 11 in Japan, everyone will get up to 100 gacha rolls for free. The beginer mission will reward players with rolls, materials, SR Chizuru Sakaki, and a SR Su-37 Terminator TSF. More rolls will be awarded through a 15-day long series of login bonuses.
The special release banner will include the SSR Meiya Mitsurugi showcased above, SR Kei Ayamine, and a SSR Type-00R Takemikazuchi TSF. There's also a banner limited to the first 72 hours featuring a variety of SSR pilots. Rolling one of them will also unlock a SSR Type-94 Shiranui TSF.
The livestream, which you can see below, also shows plenty of gameplay alongside several pilots and TSF in action. Specifically, we get to see the SSR Meiya Mitsurugi mentioned above, SSR Irisdina Bernhard, SSR Inia Sestina, SSR Michiru Isumi, SSR Mig-21 Balalaika, and SSR Type-00R Takemikazuchi.
If you aren't familiar with Muv-Luv Dimensions, it's a free-to-play mobile game for iOS and Android based on the popular Muv-Luv visual novel series. It was originally released last year as Muv-Luv Immortals, but it was affected by significant problems and immediately withdrawn. Publisher aNCHOR decided to completely overhaul the game bringing in seasoned mobile developer NextNinja, which is now preparing for a full relaunch.
If you'd like to see more, recently we saw character trailers for Mana Tsukuyomi, Marimo Jinguuji, Ilfriede von Feulner, Yui Takamura, Takatsugu Ikaruga, and Chizuru Sakaki on top of a TV commercial. For now, the game has been announced only for Japan. But hopefully, aNCHOR and NextNinja will release it in English as well down the line.
The franchise is widely considered one of the best (if not the best) visual novel series of all time and one of the first isekai stories that made waves within Japanese pop culture when the genre wasn't as oversaturated as it is now. It mixes a tragic and romantic story with one of the best and deepest sci-fi worlds ever written. It's so influential that Attack on Titan mangaka Hajime Isayama cited it multiple times as one of his main sources of inspiration.
Most Muv-Luv visual novels are currently available in English on Steam (while Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative have also been released on PS Vita) alongside the early access action game Project MIKHAIL: A Muv-Luv War Story. Incidentally, they're heavily discounted at the moment, due to the Summer stale.
