Publisher Anchor and developer NextNinja had news to share about the upcoming Muv-Luv mobile game Muv-Luv Dimensions.
We learn that the game has passed 200,000 pre-registrations in its ongoing campaign, which means that the addition of an event with the scenario written by original Muv-Luv creator Kouki Yoshimune has been unlocked.
We also get the reveal of the character design for Kaori Kisaragi to celebrate her birthday on June 15.
Lastly, a TV commercial has been released. It's airing on Japanese channels BS11 and Tokyo MX. It's narrated by Mari Noda and Chisato Konno voices of Harukoi Kashiwagi and Tae Tsukiji respectively.
Feel free to watch it below.
If you aren't familiar with Muv-Luv Dimensions, it's a free-to-play mobile game for iOS and Android based on the popular Muv-Luv visual novel series. It was originally released last year as Muv-Luv Immortals, but it was affected by significant problems and immediately withdrawn. Publisher aNCHOR decided to completely overhaul the game bringing in seasoned mobile developer NextNinja, which is now preparing for a full relaunch at the end of June.
If you'd like to see more, recently we saw character trailers for Mana Tsukuyomi, Marimo Jinguuji, Ilfriede von Feulner, Yui Takamura, Takatsugu Ikaruga, and Chizuru Sakaki. For now, the game has been announced only for Japan. But hopefully, aNCHOR and NextNinja will release it in English as well down the line.
The franchise is widely considered one of the best (if not the best) visual novel series of all time and one of the first isekai stories that made waves within Japanese pop culture when the genre wasn't as oversaturated as it is now. It mixes a tragic and romantic story with one of the best and deepest sci-fi worlds ever written. It's so influential that Attack on Titan mangaka Hajime Isayama cited it multiple times as one of his main sources of inspiration. +
Most Muv-Luv visual novels are currently available in English on Steam (while Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative have also been released on PS Vita) alongside the early access action game Project MIKHAIL: A Muv-Luv War Story.
Recently, we also saw the release of volume 2 of the Muv-Luv Regenerative magazine on Steam, delving deeper into the world of the franchise, while a few spiffy plastic model kits have been announced.
