Details about Jurassic World Evolution 2 Update 1 have been revealed along with the reveal of the new dinosaurs coming in the Early Cretaceous Pack DLC.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 has been out for a little less than a month. Although the game's campaign is a bit short, it has a ton of dinosaurs for you to unlock; now, a few more dinos are being added with a piece of premium DLC and all owners are getting some cool upgrades with Update 1.

It doesn't look like much, and that's the point -- Update 1 adds the ability for you to play a "completely flat, tree-less" version of any map.

What's Coming in Jurassic World Evolution 2 Update 1?

Jurassic World Evolution 2 Update 1 features a number of enhancements for the game that primarily focus on improving the Sandbox mode with new content and features.

To start, the Department of Fish and Wildlife and additional Jurassic Park-themed buildings will be added into the Sandbox. This will let you have a little more functionality and visual variety for your parks.

Sandbox mode is getting further improvements with the ability to play the five campaign maps in Sandbox mode. Furthermore, you don't have to play with the maps as they are in the campaign -- you'll be able to start on a "completely flat, tree-less" version of any map, making it easier than ever to shape it into your perfect park.

Update 1 will also feature a number of small accessibility improvements and balance changes; you can read about everything on the way in today's announcement about Jurassic World Evolution 2 Update 1.

When is the Jurassic World Evolution 2 Update 1 Release Date?

The Jurassic World Evolution 2 Update 1 release date is December 9, 2021.

The Jurassic World Evolution 2 Early Cretaceous Pack Adds 4 New Dinos

The Jurassic World Evolution 2 Early Cretaceous pack adds four new dinosaurs from the Cretaceous Period into the game, adding a little bit of a variety to your park (and some new gameplay challenges, too).

Here are the new dinosaurs that are being added in the Early Cretaceous Pack:

  • Kronosaurus is named after the King of the Titans, Kronos, as it is one of the largest ever pliosaurs, a carnivorous species of marine reptiles with powerful, paddle-like flippers to help it capture its prey.
  • Dsungaripterus is a small and stout pterosaur, easily identified by its distinctive head crest and its long, upcurved jaw.
  • Minmi is a small, tank-like dinosaur belonging to the ankylosaur family. Unlike other ankylosaurians, it has horizontally oriented bone plates running along the sides of its back, making the Minmi well-protected against predators.
  • Wuerhosaurus is part of the stegosaurid family of dinosaurs. It sits low to the ground in order to feed on lower vegetation and uses tail spikes as a defence against any potential predators.

When is the Jurassic World Evolution 2 Early Cretaceous Pack Release Date?

The Jurassic World Evolution 2 Early Cretaceous Pack release date is also December 9, 2021. A price has not yet been announced, but you can add this new DLC pack to your wishlist on Steam.

For now, there's still plenty of fun to be had in the base game and even more is on the way with the improvements coming in Update 1! You can buy Jurassic World Evolution 2 for PC and consoles starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent. Make sure to check out our Beginner's Guide to help you get started!

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
