Today, during the opening keynote of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in London, Square Enix announced the times for the open beta of the Xbox version.
The news was provided by producer and director Naoki Yoshida himself on stage at the event, which TechRaptor attended.
The open beta will start in mid-January 2024 and will continue throughout February.
The open beta will be open to all Xbox Series X|S users, and it's intended to ensure a smooth launch before the expansion Dawntrail.
Yoshida-san invited Xbox players to join in order to help make the game great on their platform.
The Xbox Series X|S version was announced on stage in July alongside Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer and Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu.
Together, they also pledged to bring its games to Xbox platforms "whenever possible" for players around the world to enjoy.
The port on the Xbox consoles promised fast loading times and 4K resolution, which is similar to what the PS5 version currently provides.
If you're unfamiliar with Final Fantasy XIV, it's one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world, counting 27 million registered users.
It's currently available for PC via its own dedicated client and Steam, on top of Mac, PS4, and PS5.
Next summer, it will receive the brand-new expansion titled Dawntrail, which promises the exploration of a brand new continent, two new jobs, the increase of the level cap to 100, and a ton of new content.
During the keynote today, Yoshida-san also revealed a lot more details about the expansion, which you can enjoy in our dedicated article. Another extensive article showcases the graphical upgrade that will come at the same time.
