Sephirot Fox Boy in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Donbei Commercial

With the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth just one day away, Japanese food company Nissin has done it again, releasing a new commercial tied to the game.

The commercial stars Sephiroth and Cloud, but the silver-haired antagonist comes in a definitely unusual form, with fox ears and tail, becoming a handsome fox boy who will certainly make many swoon.

Yet, his purpose is to tempt a reluctant Cloud to enjoy a steaming cup of Donbei Kitsune Udon, the instant version by Nissin of the traditional Kitsune Udon.

Sephirot tempts Cloud in the new Donbei commercial

If you're wondering what Kitsune Udon is, it's a popular noodle (udon) dish topped with a pouch made of fried tofu. "Kitsune" in Japanese means "Fox" and the name derives from the folk belief that foxes love fried tofu.

While Cloud tries to resist the temptation, Sephiroth is persistent and our hero finally gives in. I challenge Sephiroth's fans not to swoon when the popular antagonist praises Cloud with a satisfied "good boy."

You can watch the video below.

Nissin certainly isn't new to this kind of collaboration targeting gamers. Some examples include ads for its popular Cup Noodles tied with Final Fantasy XV and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The company recently went as far as releasing instant cup noodles and curry rice designed specifically for gamers

If you're in Japan right now, chances are that you won't be able to go out without taking notice that  Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is just around the corner due to the massive promotional campaign launched by Square Enix in Tokyo and around the country. We even saw a series of countdown trailers dedicated to the main characters.

The game launches on February 29 exclusively (at least for now) for PS5. You're still in time to pre-order a physical copy on Amazon if you so wish.
