Motion Twin has announced the Dead Cells PS5 release date. You'll be able to get your hands on the roguelite Metroidvania hack-and-slash platformer on Thursday (yes, that's this Thursday), and it'll come with a host of improvements that utilize the PS5's DualSense controller as well.

Dead Cells has done pretty well for itself in terms of sales, so it makes sense that Motion Twin would want to bring it to as many platforms as possible. If you play it on PS5, you can look forward to the game using the DualSense's hardware for all it's worth, and the improvements actually sound like they're useful to gameplay, too. For instance, if you try to use an item that's on cooldown, the controller will push back against you, telling you that you need to wait.

According to Motion Twin, the Dead Cells PS5 version will also use "additional lights and sound effects" to "immerse you in entirely new ways", so expect the grunts of enemies or the thwacks of swords against flesh to resonate from your controller's speaker rather than your sound system.

The PS5 version of Dead Cells will come with some nifty controller feedback features.

As well as the digital launch of Dead Cells on PS5, a physical release is also planned for August 11th. Motion Twin says it's teamed up with Merge Games in order to create physical versions of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, the Signature versions of which will come complete with enamel pins, an art book, and more goodies. Both Standard and Signature versions of these physical releases will also contain all other Dead Cells DLC.

Dead Cells is due to launch on PS5 on June 29th. It's also currently available on Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile platforms. If you're a PlayStation Plus Extra subscriber, you'll get to play Dead Cells on PS5 at no additional cost, and you'll also be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free if you already own the game on PS4.
