A Craftopia roadmap has been released by Pocket Pair, finally detailing some of the features in development for this open-world sandbox RPG on Steam.
Craftopia is an open-world game with survival and crafting elements created by the Japanese indie developer Pocket Pair. Rather than aiming for realism, it paints a picture of a colorful world filled with adventure/
Thus far, the developers have been doing daily updates. That plan is now changing with a shift to a weekly schedule due to the challenges of making daily changes. One of the benefits is that multiplayer development will move much faster under the new schedule. Additionally, each content update should be more robust than the ones that have been released thus far.
Aside from this shift in schedule, the developers have revealed the official Craftopia roadmap. This new document details the features that players can expect to see in the coming weeks and months including multiplayer, creative mode, and more.
What's in the Craftopia Roadmap?
The roadmap for this game details a ton of features planned for the future, but there are some things you need to be made aware of in advance. This roadmap was created with machine translation, so it might not get the point across perfectly in every respect. Furthermore, there are no firm promises on any of these features — anything can change in game development.
That said, a fair amount of new content is laid out in the development roadmap. The biggest planned additions are multiplayer servers and all of the infrastructure that requires. At first, players will be able to connect directly, but Steam integration and dedicated servers will arrive further down the line in development.
The character design system will get a complete overhaul. Aside from the addition of over 100 skills, players will have new ways to change up their face, hair, color, and more. In practical terms, more than 100 additional skills will be added to the roster.
New systems will make it easier to create and dismantle buildings with a specialized interface. As one might expect, a bunch of new items, weapons, vehicles, and other goodies are also planned for the future of this game.
These are just some of the highlights of what's to come; you can read the full Craftopia roadmap [PDF] to get an idea of what's in store for the future of this game. If you've got a hankering to jump into a survival sandbox game, you can buy Craftopia on Steam Early Access for $24.99.
