Koei Tecmo has announced that Atelier Ryza shipments have topped 2 million worldwide. The series, which currently consists of 3 games, began in 2019 with Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout, with the most recent installment being this year's Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key.
This milestone was announced via the official Japanese PR account for the Atelier series, which is developed by Gust, a division of the wider Koei Tecmo company. The tweet also announces a fun giveaway involving some Atelier Ryza goodies, although you'll have to be in Japan if you want to be in with a chance of winning them.
Back in April, it was revealed that Atelier Ryza 3 was the fastest-selling of the three titles in the series, having shifted 300,000 copies within around a month. Given that the first two Atelier Ryza games had shipped 1.6 million copies by March this year, we can infer that Atelier Ryza 3 has sold an additional 100,000 copies since April. Go team Atelier!
If you're not up to speed with the Atelier Ryza games, they're a spinoff series from the wider Atelier franchise, the first installment of which is getting a remake soon. The Ryza games all star the titular Ryza, an "ordinary girl" who decides to escape her boring village in order to set out and discover the world. Each Atelier Ryza game revolves around tactical combat, exploration, and, of course, alchemy, which involves collecting items and using them to create items for yourself.
All three Atelier Ryza games are currently available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Ryza 3 is also available on PS5, although you can still play the original Ryza on the current-gen PlayStation as well thanks to backwards compatibility. Stay tuned for more Atelier news!
