Today Ubisoft announced that its upcoming stealth-action adventure Assassin's Creed Mirage has gone gold, alongside a new release date.

If you're wondering, the game has not been delayed. As a matter of fact, according to the announcement made on social media, it has been pushed forward by a week. The release date has been updated to October 5, 2023, instead of the previously-announced October 12.

If you're unfamiliar with the industry lingo, "gone gold" means that the version of the game that will be on the disk is complete, and now developers can focus on potential day-one patches and additional content.

The term comes from the fact that these final versions were once recorded on a golden master disk.

If you're unfamiliar with Assassin's Creed Mirage, it's coming for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and it promises to represent a return to the origins of the franchise after recent entries leaned much more into action RPG mechanics.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how the vocal fanbase of the popular franchise will welcome this revival, which also brings back the Middle-Eastern setting, this time focusing on Baghdad

If you'd like to see more, you can check out a batch of trailers and gameplay revealed at the latest Ubisoft Forward livestream, another developer diary videoanother trailer, a look at the Prince of Persia collaboration items, and a video focusing on protagonist Basim
