Danmachi Battle Chronicle

If you love the anime Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, a new free-to-play game titled Danmachi: Battle Chronicle will soon release globally.

The game is an action JRPG with the usual gacha featuring the many popular characters from the anime, and it'll release for PC, iOS, and Android on August 24, 2023. It was originally announced in January and it's now coming in several languages including English following a relatively brief delay.

Today we get to see the gameplay thanks to an extensive video showcasing what we can expect. You can enjoy it below.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, here's what you can expect.

  • Exhilarating battles – dodge and strike foes with simple yet intuitive controls. Outmaneuver and defeat enemies with classic attacks including Firebolt and Lil Rafaga!
  • Experience DanMachi’s epic story with 3D graphics, fully-voiced in Japanese, familiar anime scenes illustrated from new perspectives, and game-exclusive cut scenes!
  • Take on other adventurers in the 8-player free-for-all battle mode “Magic Stone Scramble” and gather the most Magic Stones to become champion!

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, known familiarity among the fans as Danmachi, debuted as a light novel by Fujino Omori in Japan in 2013 and it's still ongoing, having generated manga, anime, and even a couple of video games before Battle Chronicle.

There have been plenty of releases of anime-inspired free-to-play RPGs lately, including the ultra-popular Honkai: Star Rail by HoYoverse and Snowbreak: Containment Zone by Seasun. Pairing the mobile launch with a PC client seems to have become almost obligatory among the developers of this kind of game. It's always nice to have options.
